Short Stories
Every month members will receive an original historical fiction short story that can be enjoyed by the whole family. These stories may range from from an imaginative tale about ordinary folks to a little-known story about a famous historical figure.

As a historical fiction author and educator, I have always loved bringing the past to life for young people. When we learn and share stories from the past, not only do we learn and enlighten, we empower ourselves in creating a brighter future for everyone.
First things first: who am I?
My name is Katie Andrews Potter. I am a novelist and poet, educator, the author of historical fiction for young readers. As an educator, my background is in Elementary Education from Indiana University. I spent many years teaching in public schools and online, and have been homeschooling my children for over ten years. I have been researching my family history for twenty years. I have studied at the International Institute for Genealogical Studies as well as the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History. Currently, I am a MFA candidate in the Writing for Children & Young Adults program at Spalding University. My focus is in middle-grade fiction.
I am a lifelong Hoosier with deep roots in Indiana. As such, my books are inspired by and deeply rooted in Indiana history. I live in Indianapolis, Indiana with my husband and our four kids.
